James Talarico
Opinion
The phrase “cross the Rubicon” (or “crossing the Rubicon”) comes from Julius Caesar’s decision to lead his army across the Rubicon River in January 49 BC, an act that started a civil war and marked a point of no return for the Roman Republic.
The event became a lasting metaphor for taking a decisive, irreversible action. The figurative English expression “cross (or pass) the Rubicon,” meaning to commit irrevocably to a course of action, entered the language in the early 1600s (attested around 1613–1620s).
In other words, the Rubicon refers to crossing a point from which there is no return to what is normal or customary. Everything changes. Are we there yet? A few questions for the middle-aged reader, or the one considered a “senior citizen.” Remember 1975, 1985, or even 1995? Would you or could you have ever imagined the American people electing politicians who openly espouse socialism? And in some cases, even communism? Would you or could you have ever imagined a politician advocating allowing grown men dressed as women to use a public restroom with your twelve-or thirteen-year-old daughter? Would you or could you have ever imagined a politician campaigning to strip the wealthiest Americans of their wealth, simply because they feel these individuals “HAVE” too much money? And even more bizarre, the professional basketball association WNBA cannot even define what a woman is to keep men from playing basketball in a women’s sports organization? And these are but a few of the issues facing the American people going forward. As strange and bizarre as these questions are, they are real and being pushed by the Democratic Party.
To offer you an even more unbelievable example, in Texas, this midterm, there is a candidate named James Talarico who has campaigned on the idea that the government should fund abortions for biological males. Yes, he actually believes that men can have an abortion and terminate a pregnancy. This is the same guy who has publicly stated that God is “non-binary” and that God created six different genders. The frightening reality is that (according to most polling), he is tied with Republican Ken Paxton in the midterm elections.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, we have Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed campaigning for the United States Senate in Michigan. So what is the problem with a Muslim activist running for the Senate, you may ask? The problem with this particular Muslim is:
- He hates America and Israel.
- He wants to defund ICE, which is deporting dangerous criminals back to their homeland.
- He wants to defund police and even questions whether they should carry a gun.
- He wants to stack the Supreme Court.
- He wants to nationalize healthcare, strip gun rights, open borders, grant amnesty to millions of illegal criminals, close prisons, and basically dismantle our nation as we have known it for our entire lives.
El-Sayed’s main campaign-trail talking point is destroying capitalism as we know it. His greatest desire is to strip Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos of their wealth and redistribute it to those who are on welfare and will vote to keep him in power. It is patently obvious that he is catering to the poor in Wayne County, Michigan, to win this election and go to Washington as a Senator. But if the Democrats win the Senate, Chuck Schumer of New York will be the Majority Leader, and President Trump will face yet another impeachment proceeding.
As if that’s not frightening enough, between Detroit, Dearborn, and Lansing (an ultra-liberal capital area), El-Sayed stands a very good chance of winning. He is currently (and has been for months) leading (depending on the poll) by 1-4 points. Once again, Michigan followed Texas’s lead by putting up a less-than-popular candidate for this election.
These are not the only elections this cycle with anti-American, pro-radical liberalism being pushed by the Democratic Socialist of America. We have more running for the Senate, and dozens leading in House races, which will likely flip the House of Representatives to the Dems. To paint an even darker scenario, the conservative commentator (Liz Wheeler) from Glenn Beck’s Blaze TV has procured the blueprint from the DSA for post-midterm elections if they do win the House and Senate back to the Blue Side of the Aisle.
For those who don’t believe this is possible, consider this. Most polls, Las Vegas gamblers, and political prognosticators believe the GOP has only a 13% chance of retaining control.

America, this midterm has never been more important to the survival of our nation, freedoms, liberties, and traditions. I realize that many conservative Americans vote based upon ideology. I get it, I truly do. This is how Ken Paxton won his primary in Texas. The traditional Tea Party, MAGA, etc. groups said, “I ain’t voting for any RINO,” meaning John Cornyn. However, if they had done their research, they would have realized Cornyn voted with Trump over 95% of the time. Yes, he was viewed as a moderate, but he would have wiped the floor with James Talarico. If nothing else, his closet wasn’t full of skeletons, unlike Paxton’s.
In the end, it is going to take every registered Republican, the bulk of the Independents, and poll watchers at every voting station in this nation to stop the Democrats this cycle. You simply must vote. If you don’t care for the Republican candidate, fine. Hold your nose and vote for them anyway, because they are light-years better than these radicals who are attempting to destroy our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and very sovereignty.
Unless you want to rid our nation of police officers, open the prisons, open the borders again, have your wives and daughters raped by Central American gangsters, and defund our military, you had better vote and drag your neighbor to the polling station as well. Yes, this is vital this time around, and this is not hyperbole; it is fact.
To answer the above question, “Have we crossed the Rubicon,” we are now standing and looking at that little river. WE might very well have some 50-plus percent of our nation on some type of government assistance. Let us pray that we can stop the progression toward socialism before it is too late.
