OPINION:
After a few days of contemplating last Tuesday’s political bloodbath, a few things have become clearer. The Midterm elections were a convoluted mess on steroids for both major political parties.
The Democrats
After the Blue Tsunami of last Tuesday, it is now crystal clear that the radical members of the DSA (Democratic Socialist of America) are attempting to COOP the entire Democrat Party. Before the vote count on Tuesday, it was widely known that Congressman Hakeem Jeffries was the front-runner for Speaker of the House. After the vote count, and with so many DSA members elected, these radicals have decided Jeffries is NOT far enough left (radical) for them. It seems that Jeffries doesn’t want to “create” a firestorm by holding impeachment hearings on most, if not all, of President Trump’s administration, as the socialist/communist desire.
As if impeachment hearings for the next two years are not bad enough, Hakeem Jeffries doesn’t want to rewrite the Constitution, defund police, defund most of our immigration enforcement, open the borders, open the prisons, and the rest of the lunacy that these idiots are pushing for. Because of this, it now appears that a war is beginning within the Democrat Party.
The Dems’ sweep didn’t stop with the House of Representatives and the Senate. Of all places, conservative Texas Governor Greg Abbott lost his re-election to a radical DSA candidate. Abdul Al-Sayed (with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood) won a Senate seat in Michigan, taking out longtime politician and former Congressman Mike Rogers. Los Angeles now has a socialist Mayor; Iowa has gone blue, along with Kansas and Texas. The Texas vote wasn’t even close for the Senate. The DSA candidate (God is Non-Binary), Talarico, won his Senate seat in a landslide against the horrible candidate Ken Paxton.

Before conservative Republicans want to castigate, I warned Texas not to nominate Paxton prior to the primaries because Ken Paxton simply had to many skeletons in his closet. He was impeached on bribery charges while serving as Texas Attorney General. He had many allegations against him for a litany of “shall we say” illicit affairs, as well as many other “less than honorable” allegations. But once again, the conservatives screamed “WE CAN’T HAVE A RINO” with Senator John Cornyn. And once again, the Moderate could have won the general election but was tossed out for the “Corrupt Right Wing Hack.” Washington Corruption was one of the top reasons America voted the way they did last Tuesday, and we lost a red seat to the Blue Tsunami. Texas put up the “Poster Boy” for corruption, and we had a collective conservative butt-kicking handed to us.
The Republicans
The legendary Democrat operative from Louisiana once said it best. James Carville’s famous quote, “It’s the economy, stupid,” best fits the GOP’s drubbing last week. While the White House is touting “We have the greatest economy since the beginning of time,” the middle class and the poor are being crushed by inflation at the grocery store and the gas pump.
Republicans are widely known for preaching “liberty, freedom, smaller government, fewer regulations, etc.,” and they did. Most GOP candidates hit the campaign trail preaching the same tired old rhetoric, and the truth is, the average American cannot put smaller government, less regulations, or freedom on the dinner table at night. Meanwhile, with Capitol Hill’s popularity rating hovering around 3%, Al Sayed, Talarico, and others campaigned on cleaning up Washington and lowering gas prices (how they plan to do this is anyone’s guess, but they said it, and that’s all that mattered). In addition, the Dems ran hundreds of millions of dollars worth of ads promising to provide healthcare for all, lower food costs, and rid America of the much-hated ICE gangsters. With an average of a dozen-plus campaign commercials airing nightly during “The Wheel of Fortune or “Jeopardy,” I never once saw a Republican ad explaining how we planned to lower energy prices or why ICE was so important to America’s safety by taking Colombian gangsters off the street.
The bottom line is, Republicans campaigned on theory, while Democrats campaigned on “Kitchen Table” issues that were directly affecting the savings accounts and bank accounts of America.
Here is the punch line to all of this. The GOP once again ignored the youth vote in this nation. We ignored the Hispanic, Native American, Black, and Brown vote. We ignored the blue-collar and union vote. The funny thing about the office of the President is, “Presidential remarks are often captured on film or recordings.” And when a President is quoted as saying, “We will go into Iran, destroy the nukes and be home in two weeks,” people remember those quotes, particularly when they’re reminded daily in campaign ads. When a President promises $2,000 and $5,000 checks for every American, they remember those promises. And when those promises are not fulfilled, they remember that when they go to the voting booth. Make no mistake, Donald Trump was on every ballot in this nation. If you were a Republican, you had Trump hanging around your neck with his very poor popularity rating.
And herein lies the problem for J. D. Vance. He is on camera touting Trump for (what will be four long years), and there is no getting away from that. The Democrats will spend a billion dollars reminding America of Vance’s love for the President.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio appeals to conservatives, moderates, Hispanics, and all minorities. He is young, handsome, charismatic, and highly intelligent. Rubio can espouse conservative values without it coming across as a bludgeon to the head or a redneck. Marco Rubio is likely our only salvation in 2028. Possibly Ted Cruz, but I would rather have Rubio.
The sad truth is this. If we nominate J. D. (and historically the VEEP gets the nod), we lose the general election. Now the crazies on the far left will control both Houses and the White House (unless Kamala is the nominee). Now we lose this nation forever as we have known it for 250 years.
