You have heard most of the pundits and seen the results by now. Some 125,000 (give or take) of Iowa’s most determined citizens trudged out into bone-chilling cold (yes, it was -25+ chill factors) and snow to do their duty, which they do so effectively every four years. Politically speaking, the results were earth-shattering, particularly for the moderate Republicans.
The Trump “MAGA movement” trouncing of the field was not just a win but a full-blown blow-out of the rest of the field. Why? Let’s be honest: Vivek Ramaswamy covered every county in the state, as did Ron DeSantis, and many counties had multiple visits from the candidates. If the truth is known, one can effectively argue that Vivek and Governor DeSantis all but camped in Iowa for the better part of the last year. Even the county I reside in (which has no stoplights) had three visits from Vivek and a couple of visits from DeSantis and Haley. Again: So what went so horribly wrong from the rest of the field?
Was it the messaging of the other three? Was it “likeability” or their appearance or something else? All of the field, including Trump, campaigned on shutting the borders down, deporting illegal aliens, lowering taxes, drilling for oil, beefing up the military, not participating in wars that don’t benefit America, patriotism, and pro-life stances (to some degree for Haley) and generally conservative messages. All of the candidates (for the most part) had Iowa officials endorsements. DeSantis had the Governor and several populist and popular Congressmen campaigning for him. Haley had some National figures endorsing her, and Trump had half of the United States Senate and then some endorsing him. In the end, the endorsement deal did not play much of a factor, as the field was pretty even.
So again, I ask, “How did Trump walk away with an Iowa drubbing of the caucuses?”
For over a year, the polling in Iowa was, for the most part, consistent. For over a year with little fluctuation, Trump held a 30-plus point lead on the field, and last night proved that out. Trump won Iowa by a majority of over 50%, covering the entire field combined. In addition, he won 98 of the 99 counties.
What happened last night is what will happen nationwide over the rest of the primary season. Trump will win the nomination by an unprecedented margin to waltz into the convention as a foregone conclusion. Why?
Whether it is the truth or not, in politics, perception is everything. Donald Trump has America convinced that he is the tool to be used to clean up Washington. The majority of his campaign rhetoric from the past two campaigns and this campaign is, “The Deep State is after you, America, and I am standing in the way; this is why I have been attacked so unmercifully.” And, let’s face it, he has done a masterful job of selling this talking point. This is why every lawsuit and every indictment has caused his popularity to rise. Any other candidate would have been drummed out of the race long ago.
The fact is, Donald Trump has sold himself as a “warrior” for the American people. And to be honest, he did have a pretty good record. The world was at peace or at least keeping their mouths shut. The economy was good, the border was under control, the price of energy was cheap, and the minority population was working at a higher rate than they ever had.
The truth is also, America remembers “The Good Old Days,” and Joe Biden’s administration has done more to aid and abet Donald Trump’s campaign with their miserable handling of energy, the border, the WOKE agenda, and all the rest. Biden’s policies have done nothing but harm middle-class America and small businesses.
What we witnessed last night and going forward will be a referendum on the Federal Government. Donald Trump has become “America’s sledgehammer” for the American people to rebel against Washington, D. C., and the vast corruption held within.
This is a prediction: if Donald Trump has so much as an inkling of election fraud this time around, you can expect a full-blown rebellion against our government. The American people are tired of being lied to, cheated, and having the Democrat Party cram WOKE and sin down our collective throats. The Iowa Voters spoke volumes last night, and both parties would do well to listen to them.
Barring a disaster, Donald Trump will win the nomination and will be re-elected as our 47th President of the United States. So say the American people.
