Since the ‘clean-sweep’ of the Iowa Caucuses for former President Donald Trump, many pundits have been writing this upcoming primary season as “over.” “Trump will crush the competition, Trump will cakewalk to the nomination, Trump will rule!” At least, that is what ‘most’ of the ‘Contributors’ on many news stations are offering to American television viewers. And in the end, that might be the case, but “what-if?“
These are the “truths” we know beyond a shadow of a doubt.
- The Democrat Party and their co-conspirators in “the mainstream” media will offer up fake news, manufactured news stories, lawsuits, and nefarious tactics (IE, keeping Trump off ballots, etc.) to prevent the former President from being re-elected.
- The Republican Party is “lukewarm” over getting behind Trump for the nomination. Senators such as Mitt Romney of Utah is all but campaigning against Trump to be the nominee.
- With the Democrat Party, a multi-million dollar campaign by Jack Smith (the Special Prosecutor), various Attorney Generals, and District Attorney’s aligning with countless charges from ‘election interference, insurrection, rape, and more,’ Donald Trump has his hands full to just remain on the campaign trail.
Trump’s problems (legally speaking) are not so much the Georgia trial for strong-arming the Secretary of State to ‘find more votes’ as this trial appears to unravel because of improprieties involving District Attorney Fanni Willis. The trial in New York City concerning the nut-job writer claiming rape and public humiliation against Trump is a civil matter, and the bulk of the Republican base could give two hoots so that you can throw this one out. The January 6th trial may never actually get off the ground, or if it does, it will likely take a considerable amount of time before it does. There are now lawsuits questioning (by outside litigators) the authority of Jack Smith since he legally cannot prosecute because the President or the United States Senate did not appoint him. This must be charged before Smith can bring the case before a Judge and Jury. So let’s toss this one out also, as it will not be brought before the election, in all likelihood.
In reality, the trial that could cost Trump and the Republican Party everything is the “Mar-A-Lago Classified Document” trial. This is the one that was moved from Miami farther North to give Trump a more fair trial as the bulk of Miami, Florida, appears to be Democrat in nature. Trump’s issues with this trial are going to be actual witnesses who watched him break federal law and the fact that he has two attorneys (who resigned) and gave depositions that Trump ordered them to “hide the top-secret documents” along with his butler who gave the same deposition. Two major issues here.
- Trump is caught on tape showing top-secret documents to people who had no security clearance to view such documents. Trump claims that he had “declassified” these documents. The problem is, “if he had, the National Archives and the FBI would not have come looking for them in the first place.” Keep this in mind: Everything, and I mean everything, that leaves that White House is numbered and recorded, even ashtrays. Had Trump actually declassified those documents, there would be a record of it and the National Archives folks and FBI would not have been looking for them.
- The second problem for Trump in this trial is that there is a mountain of evidence that he lied both to the National Archives folks and the FBI regarding his possession of the documents. That in and of itself is a felony. They will charge and likely convict him of felony “Obstruction of Justice.” This is an easy case to prove on the part of the Department of Justice, and the DOJ has an approximate win rate of 95% on all the cases that they charge.
This case goes to trial in Florida on March 4th, with Super Tuesday being March 5th, where Trump will be in court rather than campaigning as this is a criminal trial and not a civil trial.
And herein lies the problem. This trial will likely take a month or more to complete. UNLESS Trump can find one juror who votes not to convict, Trump will likely be found guilty of Obstruction of Justice, which will happen (in all likelihood) around the middle to the end of April or into early May. Yes, Trump could appeal, and he will if this happens, but that appeal won’t happen until long after the election. And even then, he could still be found that the original verdict stands.
Now we go to the convention with Trump having already accumulated enough delegates to be crowned the nominee. Only now, we have a potential nominee with a felony conviction hanging over his head.
Trump loyalists will claim, “We don’t care. He is our President and all of this was concocted to impede his election.” “This is all election interference!” Yes, yes, some of that is true. However! The Mar-A-Lago is a criminal trial with Trump having been charged with multiple felonies, and it is NOT being charged by a Special Prosecutor; he is being charged by the Department of Justice, and this is a trial that could potentially have him land in jail. The charge of showing “Top-Secret” documents to unauthorized people is a very serious charge and even has treason implications given the right circumstances. If he is found guilty of this, this will be a very serious problem for Donald Trump.
Now we are at the convention. The bulk of the party is split between either Haley or DeSantis (if they remain in the race), or the GOP itself drafts another candidate. Your Trump loyalists scream bloody murder, and the other half of the party is screaming, “We can’t have a felon for a nominee.” The truth is, this will be a war on the floor of the convention this August in Milwaukee. The party is now fractured, and even if Trump is the eventual nominee, half of the party will not support him, and we lose the election because they won’t vote. And the same is true visa/versa. If some other candidate is put up, the Trump loyalists won’t vote for that nominee, and we still lose the election.
The fact is, the Democrats will spend a billion dollars running ads on television that America cannot have a felon as President, and most will buy that narrative. Our only chance at victory this November is if Trump can find that one juror who refuses to convict, and this trial goes to a “hung jury.” Pray that Trump’s Attorney can find that one juror.
