While being a United Nations Ambassador is an important position, let’s be honest; it is not as high-profile as being a Secretary of State and doesn’t put you in the headlines daily.
While South Carolina is one of our cherished States, it does not make the news near as often as New York, Texas, or California. Therefore the Governor is not usually in the headlines unless a significant hurricane tears up Myrtle Beach. South Carolina doesn’t have a considerable energy source like Texas; again, you don’t hear much from these fine folks unless something earth-shattering happens. Like say, “A Chinese Spy balloon is shot down off the coast of the Gamecock State.”
Nikki Haley is a name that most Americans know, but because she was the United Nations Ambassador in the Donald Trump Administration, let’s tell the truth here, Trump garnered most of the headlines daily. Even when Haley performed the essential negotiation duties in New York City (at the U.N.) Trump would take credit for her hard work. Which “Technically speaking” is the way it usually works (a President gets all the glory). Consequently, Nikki Haley learned much about foreign relations but garnered little fanfare for her efforts. Still, her name I.D. (on a national level) did not obtain the level one would like to begin a nationwide Presidential campaign. That is until last night on a global CNN broadcast of a town hall in which she appeared.
Haley’s performance last night on CNN could be described as nothing short of stellar.
CNN’s host Jake Tapper (usually cruel to conservatives), was polite yet firm, did ask some tough questions regarding certain subjects, yet was not confrontational as the hostess was with Donald Trump several weeks ago. I must take my hat off to Tapper; he was fair and gracious with the Ambassador. Tapper did try on several occasions to get (or maybe it was him offering her) Haley to denounce or disagree with her former boss. Haley did not take the bait except when Tapper asked her about Ukraine. Her response was likely the most informative I have heard since this war began.
As you can see from this video, Haley was on top of her game last night in Des Moines, Iowa. It should be noted that Iowa voters are not your typical voter as you see across the rest of the nation. Like New Hampshire, because Iowa is first in the country with Presidential campaigns, voters in Iowa are mostly very informed on many of the issues and know the right questions to ask. In other words, if you plan to hold a town hall in Iowa, you better be prepared for tough questions.
Nikki Haley’s performance was powerful for most politicians. She did not duck one question, and she answered those that she was not relishing, such as abortion. Her answer on abortion was almost perfect, even if you are pro-choice. Iowa’s Faith and Family Coalition is very powerful in the Hawkeye State, so abortion is always a hot topic when election season begins.
Her answers regarding energy (which she blasted the Green New Deal) were perfect, as were her answers regarding “how to handle Russia, China, and Iran.”
Haley did make it a point to say, “It is time for generational change” to come to Washington.”
This statement garnered applause from the audience, notably after she repeated it several times. The not-so-polite swipe was obviously directed at our Octanagarian President and his chief competitor. Biden is over 80 years old and displaying troubling mannerisms, and Trump will be around 76 if re-elected. And to tell you the truth, she is correct; it is time for some younger blood in the Oval Office.
In the end, Nikki Haley put on a very polished performance and answered a wide variety of questions, of which most had very conservative (yet, pragmatic) solutions to the problems. If I had any qualms about Nikki Haley’s conservative chops, she alleviated them last night. She is a conservative but with a sensible and thoughtful side. She is not quick to say, “Let’s put alligators in the Rio Grande River” to stop the illegal crossing issue on our Southern Border. She gave a well-informed opinion with solutions, and it was apparent she had made the trip (to the border) and knew what she was talking about.
OPINION;
Several Grand Juries will indict former President Trump, effectively taking him out of this contest. In fact, he may even stand trial and be convicted of more than one felony charge, thus erasing his legal ability to serve as President again.
Governor Ron DeSantis will not be able to carry any of the larger Midwestern States as he is too (for lack of better words) “in your face” and confrontational on many social issues. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, the Dakotas, Nebraska, and more will not support a DeSantis campaign. This leaves his ability to win the nomination very questionable.
The former Governor of New Jersey will not get off first base. Chris Christie is finished before he starts, as with the Sununu from New Hampshire. Both of these gentlemen are wasting time and money.
With Nikki Haley’s energy, positive campaigning, sound answers to questions, empathy for those less fortunate, and understanding of our current needs and situations in this nation, she is both formidable and strong. If she can raise the funding, she will be tough to beat, particularly on Super Tuesday, as many of those states are Southern States.
I see a reasonably decent pathway for her to win the nomination, and I can tell you for a certainty she will destroy Joe Biden in the general election.
Governor Haley, I agree it is time for generational change, and I am on board!
We can all learn to say, President Haley. Website; www.nikkihaley.com
