Last month, when (then candidate) Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his campaign for the Presidency, many questioned “why?” On the surface, it appeared he was dropping way too soon. He effectively was in a tie with Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley (within the margin of error), so why drop now? Well, now it is all making sense.
I’ll pass along some tidbits for those who did not attend any Vivek events in Iowa. I can do this because I did attend several of his events.
- Vivek wants to trim the government by no less than 30-33%. Both in terms of government employees, government agencies, and overall annual spending. He wants to defund the Department of Education and all but eradicate the IRS and the EPA. Give Vivek a license to do as he will, and he will gut the Department of Justice and start over with a more streamlined version (in other words, all new employees), and he wants to do the same with the FBI.
- Vivek doesn’t want to be in Ukraine, and he is extremely concerned with how China and Russia are handled.
- Vivek wants to rebuild our military superiority, and he wants to use the military to shut the Southern Border down. He also wants to deport some 15 million illegal aliens.
- He absolutely despises men competing in women’s sports and believes all of this garbage about “transgender crap” is just that crap. In addition, he wants a federal law prohibiting any sort of sex change operations to become illegal before the age of eighteen.
If you listen to Former President Donald Trump’s messaging, you’ll note that both men have virtually identical messages for the conservatives and even moderate Republicans.
Trump is obviously now weighing his options and interviewing potential running mates. It is widely known that he likes South Dakota Governor Noem and adores Arkansas Governor Huckabee. However, from a political position, that would mean giving up a very conservative Governor to a potential “never Trumper.” I don’t think he wants to do that. Dr. Ben Carson (former HUD Secretary under Trump) and former Presidential candidate from 2016 has been rumored to be on his shortlist for some time now. Carson is widely known as a Trump supporter and is very conservative in many areas. His only drawback is that he is more reserved on the campaign trail and doesn’t seem to stimulate the crowd as Trump would undoubtedly want. Trump likes “fire-breathers.”
This would explain why the minute Ramaswamy dropped out of the race and suspended his campaign; he flew to New Hampshire to speak on Trump’s behalf leading up to the New Hampshire primary. His messaging of using troops on the border was met with resounding success, along with his gutting of the government and drilling for oil. Vivek was brought into several of Trump’s rallies in the Granite State to thunderous applause.
Last summer, I sat on a little rock ledge with Vivek at a house party just south of the Des Moines Airport for approximately 30 minutes and had a fascinating conversation with him. We talked about foreign policy and the economy, and one interesting question I asked him (which led to a more profound topic) was about his faith and whether he would be able to “send troops” into war, considering that he is a passivist who doesn’t believe in violence. His answer was straight to the point, “Ken, the first thing a Hindu must do is their duty. If that means going to war to protect America, I will go to war.” Great answer, I thought.
Next question: “How do you plan on winning any Southern States, as all of them are fundamentalist Christian states with a church on every street corner? I don’t mean to sound racist, as I am not, but the fact is, they are all Southern Baptist, and you’re a Hindu. I honestly don’t think they will support you, Sir.” Vivek responded, “You’re correct, and that is problematic.” All in all, we had a great conversation with him, bouncing his little boy on his knee.
On reflection, I have come to this conclusion. Vivek Ramaswamy is, without a doubt, the most intelligent person I have ever had the pleasure of actually getting to know to some degree. This guy’s IQ is in the stratosphere. Secondly, he had known all along that Trump would be the nominee, and he had known all along when he would drop out to support Trump. His messaging was tailored to that of Trump’s.
He knew he would garner Trump’s attention by never saying a derogatory word about Trump on the campaign trail and by pushing an American First agenda. He knew that he would gain his favor by flying to New Hampshire in support of Trump. He also knows that “if Trump” chooses him, he has earned the Republican Godfather’s blessing. Therefore, he is now palatable to the American people. Now, he can run in four years and have a legitimate shot at winning the nomination as a sitting Vice-President.
To further cement this theory that Vivek is the choice, a video captured Vivek and his wife visiting Trump in Mar-A-Lago for dinner and meetings a few days ago.
Vivek Ramaswamy would add a couple of enormous bonuses for Donald Trump.
- Vivek is a high-octane campaigner who appeals significantly to the Gen-Z factions. He would create a ton of positive messages on college campuses across the nation. He would undoubtedly attract a large percentage of the youth vote. This is a place where Trump needs the help.
- Vivek can be the pitbull that Trump needs to attack the swamp and remain outside the fray. Vivek can accomplish Trump’s “dirty work,” and Trump can worry about foreign policy and the economy.
Trump has a great deal of respect for successful people. Between Vivek’s campaign rhetoric and his bank account number near Billionaire status, there is almost zero doubt that Donald Trump has great respect and affection for Vivek, his children, and his wife. This may be the perfect choice for Trump’s able-bodied pitbull Vice-Presidential choice.
Mr. President, do it. Choose Vivek, and you win in a landslide.
