Conservatives, moderate Republicans, and even Independents have begun celebrating Kamala Harris, the newly christened Democratic party nominee. When Joe Biden stepped aside as the presumptive nominee, champaign corks were being popped at Republican Party campaign headquarters nationwide.
Behind closed doors, one can almost guarantee that Trump’s campaign team sang in unison, “Happy Days are here again.” Where Joe Biden spoke in “word salad” most of the time (his was due to a prior stroke and his progressing dementia), Kamala’s word salad stems from a pure lack of knowledge about specific subjects. She tries to pass off her lack of expertise with extended dribble, hoping that she sounds “knowledgable.”
Between Harris’s failure (in the American people’s mind) as a “Border Czar,” her “word-salad statements,” and her atrocious management style (she has a 92% turnover in her offices), the Republicans think they “have her” right where they want her politically speaking. And yes, there is no doubt that the Republican PACs will have a field day producing attack ads against the Vice President over her failures and misspeak.
What is transpiring now is that the DNC (Democrat National Committee) and the Harris campaign have begun re-branding her as a more moderate Democrat in addition to claiming that Joe Biden did not put her in charge of the Southern Border and National security regarding illegal immigration. Nothing is further from the truth, as you can see from this news report dating back some 3 years. Keep in mind that since this was first aired, some 12 million illegal aliens have crossed into the United States, mostly un-vetted.
The Republican PACs will also push the fact that Kamala Harris was voted as the most “liberal and progressive” Senator during her tenure on the Senate floor. She (along with the mainstream media) has begun spinning this label about the Vice President in their attempts to re-brand her.
The problem for Donald Trump and the Republican Party campaigning against Kamala Harris is multifaceted. And yes, we (the conservatives) will have an issue or multiple issues to deal with. If they are not handled correctly, we could lose this election and ‘down-ballot’ seats.
- The first issue is race-baiting. Kamala Harris was undoubtedly chosen as Vice President because of Biden’s penchant for DEI hiring. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion played a massive role in her appointment as his running mate in 2020. Biden made no secret about this, and this is ‘why’ we have had transgendered, LGBTQ, minorities, and many others in the roles of running our government. Rather than select the “most qualified” for these positions, he chose based on near totality of sex, race, religion, sexual identity, and preference. While we on the right know this, if we attack Biden-Harris (or Trump attacks), this could become problematic and cause massive blowback for the Republicans. We will undoubtedly be labeled (with the help of the media) as homophobic, misogynistic, racist, and nine other tags. Trump needs to be very careful in handling this issue. In fact, it might be better if he stays away from this altogether and lets the PACs do this bit of dirty work.
- Abortion– This is a subject that is a “no-win” for Republicans in general. Due to the fact that some 70% of America believes that a woman has the right to choose, attempting to push this agenda by the right is a no-go, and we always lose this argument at the polls. Trump is right to place this argument back on the Supreme Court and keep pushing that they turned it back to the people to decide through their states and state legislatures. But, the GOP cannot ignore this subject simply because the Democrats are making this a prominent campaign issue. We will have to address it, but it must be handled carefully, or it could cost us votes.
- Attacking a woman- The problem with being a man in a campaign against a woman is “you must play your cards very delicately.” Donald Trump is already seen as somewhat of a bully. He got away with attacking Hillary Clinton simply because she was detested and reviled by most of the general population back in 2016. She had more skeletons in her closet than a graveyard, and America knew it. This is not the case with Kamala Harris. Yes, she has her tenure as Attorney General in California, and there is plenty of campaign fodder there to fire over the bow of the SS Harris campaign. Yes, she has the Border issue to use, but in the end, she is a black woman (which she isn’t, but this is how she is being portrayed), and she is going to be held to different standards. If Trump goes after her hard, we lose because of the bullying of a woman issue. Women will rally behind her, and this is simply too large of a voting bloc to mess with.
Yes, the Republicans and Trump have volumes of negativity they can use in this campaign. From the border to Ukraine to China, the economy (inflation), energy prices, and failed leadership globally. However, do not treat Kamala lightly. Keep in mind, the Democrats will have an enormous war chest to spend, and the fact is, with great campaign ads, a billion dollars, and the airwaves, the Democrats can rebrand and sell this lady to the American people. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE the power of clever television ads.
The unanswered factor; The one factor we still don’t know the answer to is “what happens in September” with President Trump’s sentencing?
If the judge sentences Trump to jail for six months, what factor will that play in regard to the election? If he tosses it out on the basis of a mistrial, that neutralizes the Democrats’ ability to hold the conviction against him. The Judge could hold the keys to how the election plays out. Will America vote for a convicted felon? Most say yes.
Grab your popcorn, America; election night could be a nail-biter.
