If you have one or two or even three polls showing something, you can disregard them (if you must). However, when nearly every polling company in the nation says the same thing, you must give credibility to the answer. And this is the problem now facing the Democrat Party.
The monumental issue facing the Democrats is Kamala’s dismal approval ratings, which (if you can believe it) are even worse than Joe Biden’s. Depending on the polling company, Biden’s approval ratings were in the mid-to-low 30s. Kamala Harris’s numbers are lower (if that is even possible). Compare these numbers to Donald Trump’s (high 40s), and Kamala has a problem, or does she? In the days following Biden’s stepping aside, momentum for Harris seems to be growing. In a recent (just a day ago), a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that Harris defeated Trump by a margin of 44% to 42%.
Since Joe stepped aside a few days ago, lines have been drawn in the sand on the Democrat side of the aisle. Many prominent Democrats are angry that some fourteen million Americans voted for Joe Biden in the primaries, and the “power structure or elitists” within the Democrat Party forced Joe to step aside, thus extinguishing those fourteen million voters. In other words, the folks in the Democrat ivory tower have decided “who” the nominee should be. On the other hand, prominent Democrats are lining up behind Kamala Harris to be the nominee. Names such as Hillary and Bill Clinton, actor George Clooney, and a host of Governors, Senators, and Congressional Reps have fully endorsed the Harris campaign.
The problem with campaigning for President of the United States is that somebody will expose your laundry. You have too many investigators on both sides looking into your past. In previous elections, we learned of Donald Trump’s escapades regarding real-estate deals, affairs, divorces, bank account balances, and anything and everything you can think of, both good and bad. Kamala has barely accepted Joe Biden’s endorsement, and detractors have already begun coming forward with her past. An example is the television Judge Joe Brown. In this interview, Brown pulls no punches about the Vice-President’s past.
Another issue facing Kamala Harris that Donald Trump’s camp will undoubtedly seize upon was Harris’s tenure as California’s Attorney General. According to records, Harris actually argued that ‘prisoners’ needed to remain behind bars (after their sentence was completed) to be used as “cheap” labor to help fight California wildfires. The Trump-supporting Super-Pacs will also run millions of dollars worth of advertising citing Harris’s endorsement and pushing a website raising money for those arrested in the 2020 destruction of Minneapolis/St. Paul ‘George Floyd’ riots. Harris came out and became quite vocal about her desire to see these rioters and looters released from jail after they ransacked the Twin Cities.
While Donald Trump has a sketchy past in many regards, Kamala Harris’s sketchy past is about to become front-page news. While she might currently be enjoying a slight lead in many polls and will be guaranteed a bump in the polls after the DNC Convention (as most candidates do), as time passes and more information is released, she is likely to take a nose dive in the polling. Predictions are now coming out regarding the final electoral college count, and this part doesn’t look good for Kamala.
Trump’s shady past is ‘old news’ as most of America is very aware of some of his ‘less-than-flattering’ relationships with women, real estate, etc. When social media begins abundantly sharing Kamala’s less-than-flattering record as Attorney General and generally weak performance as Vice President, she will do everything in her power to spin the negatives. If the mass media (the alphabet) networks are fair and honest, they, too, will report the truth. In the end, Kamala will have quite a bit to answer for.
The question now becomes, “How does Trump” attack her with her record without seeming to be a bully? Keep in mind that Trump attacked Hillary and got away with it, largely because Hillary was seen as a villain. Kamala is a minority female and is NOT seen as a villain by a large portion of the Democrats or even Republicans, for that matter. Trump will need to be very careful about “nicknaming” her and spewing toxic rhetoric toward Kamala if he doesn’t want to lose any women’s support, which he cannot afford to do.
While Harris, in most cases, seems to be coming across as an ‘airhead,’ Trump cannot come out and say it. He is going to have to keep his mouth shut and let his Super Pacs do the talking when it comes to attack ads.
Initially, Trump nation was under the impression that both Biden and Harris would be easy pickings for Donald Trump. The fact is, America now has an opportunity to elect the “First Black Female” (even though she’s not actually black) to be our first Commander in Chief. Those who disagree with her will no doubt be labeled as a racist, and this is yet another obstacle to overcome. How does Trump show a difference in policy without being labeled a racist?
Get your popcorn ready. This will be a fun campaign to watch. The debates will be even more entertaining as Trump shares her record (or lack thereof) with the viewers. But make no mistake about it: Trump nation will have to work for this victory. It won’t be a cakewalk, as we had originally thought.
