OPINION
Today, across our land, many Americans are experiencing mixed emotions ranging from anxiety to depression. Yes, a few are gleeful with the current state of affairs, but those seem to be few and far between. Most Americans are anxious because they see our nation (or believe it to be so) as teetering on collapse. This continued anxiety over our nation’s ills is naturally causing depression among many of our citizens.
When visiting with middle-aged or older people, ask, “Is this the same nation you grew up in?” Inevitably, the answer is, “I don’t recognize my country anymore.”
When expounding on their answers, they more than often fall along the lines of;
- Our politicians have been corrupted, and they no longer trust the government at any level. Patriotism is gone, and our nation is weak.
- Our society has abdicated its duty as American citizens. Nobody of any character wants to become involved in service to our State or Nation.
- Nobody seems to have any respect or manners anymore. Hardly anyone wants to accept responsibility for their actions.
- Morality is gone; we have become an almost decadent society.
- Most people no longer want to work, particularly our youth and younger people. They want everything given to them either by their parents or the government.
When studying the history of powerful empires, several things pop out about how they ended up in the ashbin of history. Beginning with the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian empires, their commonality for destruction is as follows.
- Gradual erosion and eventual demise of the empire’s manpower and taxpayer base. In other words, the workers became outnumbered by those who sought to live off the government. This was particularly true with the Roman Empire.
- Political instability.
- Continual wars.
- A vast difference between the wealthy and the poor. The destruction of the middle class. This led to many internal civil wars, which ended up destroying the nation. (Greece and Rome)
- The destruction of any morality. In the case of Egypt, this became true with the continuing changing of Gods, which the nation worshipped (IE, This Pharoh worshipped a cat, and the next worshipped goats, etc.) In Rome, for instance, the heads of state were even feeding Christians to lions as a form of entertainment.
While many reasons exist for some of history’s most potent empires falling into ruin, these seem to be a common thread amongst the three oldest and most historically relevant. As we know today in the United States, our great nation seems to be following some, if not all, of these commonalities that destroyed the great empires of history.
- War: Looking back, we exited World War II (which was a necessity) only a short time later to enter Korea. It would be only a few years before we began sending “advisors” to Vietnam, and then it became a very costly endeavor that would consume over a decade and some 50,000 plus lives for a failed mission. As we know today, the “Military Industrial Complex” would drive this conflict that we embroiled ourselves in. Today, we have been in the Middle East at one level or another for the past twenty-plus years. This is in addition to America’s funding (which we cannot afford) for the Ukraine war against Russia.
- Tax Base (Workers versus those who don’t): There was a time in this nation when seven workers paid into our Social Security and Disability programs for every one who took benefits. Former President Lyndon Johnson created the “Great Society” supposedly in an effort to stem poverty and hunger. In reality, this massive government giveaway program was designed to enslave the inner cities, create dependency on the government, and an enormous voter base who feared losing their benefits if the opposing party were to gain power. Today, our nation is in an astronomical amount of debt, our dollar is being diluted globally, and we are on the verge of economic collapse, which will inevitably drive our country into social chaos in time. More banks will fail, we will suffer from hyperinflation, which will empty grocery store shelves, and then we will descend into civil war.
- Destruction of morality: It almost seems as if our country (and possibly the entire world) has lost its mind or sanity. Our nation’s schools have even begun sexualizing six-seven-and-eight-year-old children with story time about Steve and Larry raising children. Transexuals reading to our youngest babies. Parades featuring men with men and women with women having sex in the middle of the streets or marching nude. The flying of flags that have the meaning of sexual perversion, and even churches are now ordaining homosexuals as priests and pastors. I’m not attacking gays by design, but to attempt to normalize deviant bedroom behavior, we now have boys taking over girls’ sports, boys in girls’ restrooms, and young ladies being sexually preyed upon. The acclaimed author Robert Heinline once said, “Any society which fails to revere its women and children is doomed for failure.” Looking back at the legalization of ‘Roe-V Wade,’ we can read the FBI crime statistics and see where crime in our nation has steadily increased over the decades. What happened was this: By the government legalizing the murder of babies, it sent the message to society that human life no longer had the reverence that it once had. If you can murder an infant, then what value does anyone have? In other words, the sanctity of human life was no longer as valuable.
By removing God from the classroom, courtrooms, the courthouse square, and everywhere else, we have begun our moral destruction as a society. By having the government involved at every level of our lives, we have empowered corruption at all government levels beyond what most Americans would find tolerable. By continuing to engage in wars for decades on end, we are bankrupting our nation and diluting our military power to the point of no return.
Have we crossed the Rubicon of no return? The sheer fact is that most Americans today feel powerless to do anything about it. One of two things will happen in the near future. Either the American people will rise up and seize control of our future again, or we will descend into chaos, and then all bets are off as to what happens next.
