Whether you’re discussing the United States or the entire world, the fact is, we are all in uncharted waters. Few, if any, nations have undergone this sort of (what appears to be a vast transformation) change in their societies and politics.
A sore point for both the Republican Party and its supporters is that the leading candidate (the reasons don’t matter) for the nomination is, in fact, a convicted felon. In addition to that dubious title, he also lost a massive lawsuit for some unsavory business practices on top of a lawsuit by a noted writer for sexual assault. Due to the fact that all of these convictions and losses came in a very biased manner under a cloud of partisan judges, the Former President is likely to win appeals for the judgments, the felony charges, and possibly the sexual allegations as well. However, none of this will happen until long after the November elections.
On the politically opposing side of the coin is a candidate who very obviously has cognitive issues, which have played out on television and most social media. Technically and medically speaking, the American public quite likely won’t know the truth until the President is no longer in office and books are written by his inner circle. The sad fact (for our nation) is that we don’t have any good choices for the upcoming election.
Both candidates are very senior citizens, and both have huge skeletons in their closets. The voters are reduced to selecting the candidate they feel is a lesser threat to our country. In nearly all cases, Americans will vote while holding their collective noses.
Was Donald Trump “railroaded” on obvious “lawfare” thrown at him? Yes, a powerful argument can be made to that fact. There is almost zero question that when the bankers who testified at the real estate trial stated that Trump paid his debts, the banks held no liability and lost no money; Trump should have walked free of any criminal or civil charges. Yet, because of a politically biased judge, he was found guilty and fined astronomical amounts of money. The public decided that Trump was now a victim rather than a real estate gangster in New York City (as he had been portrayed).
The point is that in all of Donald Trump’s legal woes, fingerprints by the White House and by Joe Biden are all over them. From the author, who could not remember dates, times, locations, or even the year of her supposed assault, to real estate processes practiced every day by investors and developers nationwide, the White House is clearly behind all of Trump’s legal issues.
Of course, we now know that the Department of Justice became involved to torture some very vague laws in New York regarding Federal Election Law to find the Former President guilty of dozens of election law violations regarding payoffs to a porn star (who admitted that she crafted her charges for extortion purposes) and possibly send the President to jail.
All of the above now puts the American voter in a position of having to decide, “Do we vote for the convicted criminal, or do we vote for a dementia-riddled geriatric who cannot parse together the verbiage needed to form a completely understandable sentence?“
Initially, I thought that the Republican Party would have a significant conflict on the floor of the convention (coming up next week) and would not nominate Trump because of his lawfare and convictions. I rationalized my thoughts by saying, “There is no way America puts up a candidate with a criminal record.” The Oval Office is one of reverence and is, in many ways, one of the most historic places in American history. The White House is, without question, to be treated with respect and honor. How can you have a convicted criminal running the beacon for liberty and freedom on a global scale? This is the house of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and so many more historical figures. You cannot have it occupied by a felon, can you? Apparently, I am wrong because America is poised to do just that.
On the flip side of the coin, we have wars in Ukraine, wars in the Gaza Strip, terrorism running amok, an invasion on our Southern Border, and a potential confrontation with China and an almost guaranteed war with Russia. And we have our mentally deficient leader who cannot speak coherently leading these issues?
To make matters even worse, hypothetically, if Biden stepped aside, Vice President Kamala Harris would be next in line. Remember that this lady has not completed hardly any of her assigned tasks. The largest was that Biden appointed her “Border Czar” on day one of his administration. We can all see how well she did at that job. If we thought Joe was bad, can you imagine a Kamala Harris administration? The truly frightening part of this equation is that if Joe is re-elected, it is almost guaranteed that he will not finish his second term, and we will get Kamala for President.
Almost unbelievably, out of some 350,000,000 American citizens, this is the best we could do. Fifty Governors, one hundred Senators, four-hundred thirty-five Congressmen, and countless successful business people and we get a convicted criminal and a mentally deficient geriatric senior citizen for presidential candidates?
Yes, America, we are in uncharted waters, and our boat has a non-functioning rudder. Where we go from here is anyone’s guess, but starting the journey doesn’t look promising.
