Patriots; The following was submitted by one of our nations leading 2nd Amendment advocates Pat Nicklaus. She is a staunch fighter for your rights and has been for some years both in state and nationally. Please read this breaking news item, then share it as this is an emergency!
While the country has been riveted by allegations that a man in Alabama may have trolled for teenagers 40 years ago, your 2nd Amendment rights have been coming under increased attack.
Has anyone noticed? Of course not. It’s much more “funner” to chase whatever shiny rock the media places in front of you, than it is, to pay attention to actual legislation that’s been introduced, and statements made by politicians in power.
Just in the time frame since the Las Vegas shooting, we’ve had no less than six anti 2nd Amendment bills proposed. Most of them are small and have gained no traction, but a few are noteworthy.
First is HR 3999. Otherwise known as “The Bump Stock Ban.” The bill was introduced by Republican Representative, Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) on 10/10/2017 in response to the Las Vegas shooting. Since it’s introduction, it’s made it through the Judicial Committee and has been referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations.
Think about that for a moment, folks. We have an anti-gun bill, proposed by a man who ran his election on the GOP’s pro-gun platform, introducing a bill as an emotional response to a mass shooting. That’s the type of reaction we expect to see out of Liberals, not Republicans. What’s worse, is that the bill is gaining traction.
But that’s not the largest of our concerns!
While you were yammering on Facebook and Twitter, about the morality of a 32-year-old dating teenagers, Dianne Feinstein was quietly presenting a brand new, Assault Weapons Ban proposal. (S.2095). The bill was introduced a week ago, on 11/08/2017, has already been read twice, and has previously been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. For a government body rarely known for getting things done fast, this bill is moving at the speed of light.
Interestingly enough, while the progress of the bill indicates that it’s been reviewed twice, the text has not been made available to the general public.
We appear to have another situation of “You have to pass it, to know what’s in it” going on. The only text provided to We The People is: “A bill to regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes.”
Having talked with several reliable and well-known sources in the 2nd Amendment vertical, and researching reputable 2nd Amendment sites, what we can glean at this point is; the bill mimics the original, Clinton Assault Weapons Ban. The legislation also seeks to add bump stocks, so-called “high capacity” magazines, and trigger cranks to the list of banned accessories. Another huge problem with the bill is that while the Clinton AWB contained a 10-year “sunset clause” there is no indication that S.2095 contains such a law, and it will likely be voted on as a “permanent” bill.
People; The time for playing Social Justice Warrior on the internet is over. Who dated whom 40 years ago, has zero bearing on your life. The latest scandal out of Hollywood has no bearing on your life. What NFL players are taking a knee, and which ones aren’t, has no bearing on your life.
But without the 2nd Amendment? None of the other ones, matter.
Get off your butt. Take action. Call or write your Senators TODAY to let them know you oppose S.2095. Do it now. Because if you don’t, with the speed that this bill is moving, you’re going to wake up one morning and find that your 30 round magazine is now illegal, as is the AR-15 you attach it to, and you’re going to ask yourself…”What the hell just happened, here?
