Boosting Your Immune System with Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea and Relieve Aches and Pain

Ginger, turmeric and lemon are without a doubt three of the most popular natural healing foods on our planet. Although they have been around for ages, they are finally getting the attention they deserve, thanks to the growing health-conscious community that is turning its back on conventional medicine.

If you have already jumped on the warm lemon water bandwagon, then your healthy morning routine may get even better by adding some ginger and turmeric, too.

Starting your day with lemon ginger turmeric tea is an excellent way to give your body the daily love it needs. It kick-starts digestion, fights inflammation, boosts the immune system and helps to detoxify the liver and blood.

It can be used to treat a broad range of ailments, such as the common cold, a sore throat, cough, seasonal allergies, fatigue, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome and other digestive complaints.


Turmeric and Ginger to Alleviate Pain

Many scientific studies have shown that the strong anti-inflammatory properties of ginger are excellent for dealing with chronic pain caused by rheumatic diseases such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Many patients report a gradual reduction in pain and improved mobility after ginger supplementation.

Turmeric amplifies the anti-inflammatory effect. Studies have even found that a ginger-turmeric mixture can be more effective than commonly prescribed non-steroidal/anti-inflammatory drugs.

Next to fighting chronic inflammation, lemon ginger turmeric tea also works wonders in strengthening the immune system and fighting cancer.


Lemon Ginger Turmeric Tea Recipe

Are you ready to take your morning lemon water to the next level? Here is a delicious spin on the old lemon water favorite which adds a little bit more punch and healing nutrients to your daily life.

Ingredients (serves 1)
1 teaspoon fresh grated turmeric root (or 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder)
1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger root (or 0.5 teaspoon ginger powder)
2–3 twists black pepper (to make the turmeric more bio-available)
Juice of half a lemon
1–2 teaspoons raw honey (optional)
1.5 cups filtered water

In a saucepan, combine ginger, turmeric and water. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Make sure the mixture does not boil.

If using fresh turmeric root, be careful with your clothes and counter top; it may leave stubborn, yellow stains.

When ready, strain the liquid and pour into a mug or cup. Add black pepper, lemon juice and honey to taste. Give it a good stir and enjoy its warming and healing powers.

Turmeric is a wonderful spice with many benefits for your health. Unfortunately, its active ingredient, curcumin, isn’t absorbed well by the body. Therefore, it is recommended that you add black pepper which contains piperine and can increase the absorption of curcumin by up to 2,000 percent.

For the hotter summer months, let the tea cool down completely in the refrigerator and pour over ice for a refreshing iced tea.

If you are looking for one simple thing that can change your health and happiness, then this tea recipe may be it. However, other lifestyle factors are important too. As you make lemon ginger turmeric tea part of your morning ritual, also start cutting back on sugar, sodium, and processed foods, and include more fresh produce in your diet.
